Professional Lumber & Decking Estimates

Accurate framing calculations are essential for structural integrity and cost control. Our framing mode accounts for standard stud spacing (16" or 24" on-center), accounts for multiple wall height sections, and includes waste factors to ensure you order enough material. The calculator provides both stud counts and plate linear footage, giving you a complete picture of your framing lumber needs.

Board foot calculations are the industry standard for lumber volume in woodworking projects. Our woodworking mode converts dimensional lumber measurements (thickness × width × length) into board feet using the standard formula: (T × W × L) / 144. This allows you to accurately estimate material costs and compare prices across different lumber suppliers, ensuring you get the best value for your project.

Decking surface area calculations require precise spacing logic to account for gaps between boards. Our decking mode calculates the number of rows needed based on deck width, board size, and gap spacing, then multiplies by deck length to determine total linear feet. The calculator accounts for standard board widths (4" or 6") and typical gap spacing (1/8"), providing accurate estimates for surface boards while clearly excluding substructure requirements.

Disclaimer: These calculations are for estimation purposes only. Framing: Results do not account for window/door openings, headers, or structural load-bearing requirements. Woodworking: Board foot calculations do not account for kerf loss, milling defects, or specific joinery waste. Decking: Estimates apply to surface boards only and strictly exclude substructure (joists, beams, footings). Always verify local building codes and confirm final quantities with a professional contractor or lumber supplier before purchasing.
